Position Overview

We are hiring Saw Operators to support production operations across the Cudahy facility. This role is responsible for setting up and operating sawing equipment to cut and process steel material while maintaining accuracy and quality.

Employees in this role may set up and operate saws to cut, miter, and trim steel products to length, as well as move and stage material using forklifts or overhead cranes. This position may support multiple areas of the operation based on experience and business needs.

No prior saw operating experience is required; on-the-job training will be provided.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate saw equipment to cut, trim, or process steel material to specification
  • Adjust machine controls including speed, feed rate, and blade tension to ensure optimal performance and cut quality
  • Verify material type, dimensions, and job requirements prior to processing
  • Position guides, stops, and fixtures to secure and direct material during cutting operations
  • Move materials using forklifts, overhead cranes, or other equipment as needed
  • Inspect finished parts to ensure conformance with quality standards
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
  • Work with supervisors and team members to meet production schedule and goals

Qualifications & Skills

  • Previous manufacturing or warehouse experience preferred but not required
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety
  • Reliable attendance and strong work ethic
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to work with machinery and tools
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints
  • Strong understanding of measurements and ability to read a tape measure or other measuring devices
  • Ability to read and interpret basic work orders or job instructions
  • Basic computer skills

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift, push, pull, or carry up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to stand, walk, and/or climb for extended periods (8+ hours per shift)
  • Ability to frequently stoop, bend, kneel, or crouch
  • Work is performed indoors in a non-climate controlled manufacturing facility

Shift & Scheduling

Multiple shifts are available. Applicants will have the opportunity to indicate their preferred shift during the application process. 2nd and 3rd shift positions may include additional pay through a shift differential. Final shift assignment will be based on business needs and applicant experience.

Overtime opportunities may be available based on workload and production needs.
